“I\u2019ve had two years to prepare for this. In that time, I have never told a <\/em>soul. Of course, my Nan knew. She\u2019d bequeathed me the mirror, after all. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Now, maybe tonight,\u00a0tomorrow, in a few days, the event that I don\u2019t want <\/em>to happen with all my heart, will come to pass. I\u2019m not ready. I know I\u2019m <\/em>not ready, and yet, it will happen nonetheless. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Nan had this thing in her possession for nearly seventy years. She had <\/em>told me I simply had to be at Rosewinter, prior to my sixteenth birthday <\/em>no matter what objections my parents raised. She said I was \u2018special\u2019, and <\/em>was the only one equipped to deal with what was coming. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The problem is, I don\u2019t feel special, I just feel\u2026different, and in all <\/em>probability, that isn’t going to be good enough. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

In just two days time, I will be sixteen years old, and if anything my Nan <\/em>said is remotely true, I will be lucky to survive that long\u2026”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
